J.C. Penney to Open in Woodbridge

will open in Potomac Mills Mall on March 2. The store announced Tuesday that a celebration is planned at the mall for 9:30 a.m. on opening day. 

“We’re going to treat customers the way they want to be treated -- fair and square -- with straightforward pricing, great value and excitement every time they shop with us,” said Kevin Kennedy, store manager in a press release. “We think everyone will be pleased with the new J.C. Penney.”

The new store replaces the former jcpenney Outlet Store, which closed in July 2011. The 106,000-square-foot store has been completely remodeled into a modern department store with wide aisles, new lighting, artful merchandise presentation and unmatched customer service. Shoppers will immediately notice the new jcpenneylogo, pricing strategy and monthly cadence, including new in-store signage reflecting true price clarity as well as edited merchandise assortments for the monthly store set.

J.C. Penney said the Woodbridge store would also feature a Sephora inside the store.

During the ceremony, Kennedy will present a $5,000 J.C. Penney after-school access grant to the Boys & Girls Club Hylton Branch in Dale City that will allow more children to participate in the club’s afterschool programs. J.C. Penney will also provide the Club with five $50 gift cards to help students purchase school apparel. The store opens at 10 a.m., and the first 450 customers will receive Sephora gift bags.
