Man Flown Out for Burns from Structure Fire

Bystanders pulled man from building.

Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue crews are on the scene of an extinguished structure fire off of Route 1.

PWC DFR Fire Batallion Chief Joe Robertson said that the fire happened around 3 p.m. Thursday at an old service station that was vacant and an attached shed. Robertson said a person was living in the shed and when the fire occured, bystanders pulled the man out of the shed. 

The service station is near the Route 1 and Gordon Boulevard intersection, next to the BP gas station and the Station Plaza shopping center where B-Thrifty is located.

Robertson said the man was flown out to a burn center for his injuries and that the investigation was just beginning into what caused the fire. 

The shed, a nearby tree and roof of the old service station appear charred from the fire.
