Man Injured As Masked Suspects Fire Gunshots In Woodbridge: Police

Police believe masked suspects fired shots at a group in a community park.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man was injured in a Woodbridge shooting in a community park on Sunday night, according to Prince William County Police.

Around 10:20 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a gunshots report at the Potomac Ridge Apartments in the 2800 block of Woodmark Lane. Police learned an 18-year-old man came to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The man had non-life-threatening injuries.

A police investigation determined the man and a group were in a community park near the apartments when people armed with guns and wearing masks appeared. Multiple rounds were fired, one of which struck the 18-year-old man.

The parties dispersed, and there were no other reported injuries or property damage. Officers found multiple shell casings in the area of the shooting.

Police do not believe the shooting was random and are investigating the circumstances leading to the shooting. Suspects have not yet been identified.

Strong-Arm Robbery: On May 23 at 5:46PM, officers responded to investigate a robbery that was reported to have occurred in the 4200 block of Old Bridge Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) on the evening of May 22. The investigation revealed the victim, an 18-year-old man, was walking by a nearby bus stop when he encountered two unknown males, possibly juveniles. The group then went to the above location where the suspects demanded the victim’s phone before the parties dispersed. No injuries were reported.

Attempted Residential Burglary: On May 24 at 12:23AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14900 block of Illinois Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted burglary. Video footage revealed around 3:16PM an unknown woman was at the front door of the residence. Officers located pry marks on the door frame however, no entry was made into the residence. No property was reported missing. No further suspect description is available at this time.

Commercial Burglary: On May 25 at 6:15AM, officers responded to the Exxon service station located at 13594 Quate Ln. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed entry was forced through the front glass door. Video surveillance revealed at approximately 2:27AM, an unknown man used a rock to smash the glass door before entering the business. The suspect took vaping products before leaving the area on foot.

Suspect Description: A black male with a thin build and short curly black hair. Last seen wearing a mask, a black/grey coat, a white shirt, khaki colored pants, and grey tennis shoes.

Attempted Aggravated Malicious Wounding: On May 25 at 1:05AM, officers responded to the Elm Farm Mobile Home Park located in the 3600 block of Elm Farm Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed the victim, a 19-year-old man, was contacted by a female acquaintance, identified as Keyla Nolasco, to meet in the above area. Nolasco was driven to the above area by a male acquaintance, identified as Ruben Dario Guerra Cruz. At some point during the encounter, Guerra Cruz and the victim engaged in a verbal altercation before Guerra Cruz fired multiple rounds striking the victim’s vehicle. Both Nolasco and Guerra Cruz drove out of the area while the victim, who was not injured, remained at the scene and contacted the police. During the investigation, officers observed the victim receive threatening messages and voice calls from the Guerra Cruz suspect. No injuries or additional property damage were reported. While investigating the incident, officers obtained arrest warrants for both suspects. On May 26, following the investigation, Ruben Dario Guerra Cruz, was located in Fairfax and taken into custody by Virginia State Police and Keyla Nolasco, was arrested by members of U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in Woodbridge.

Residential Burglary: On May 25 at 9:12AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3300 block of Ladino Ct. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an alarm activation. The investigation revealed entry was made into the home through a rear porch window that was found unsecured. Officers located a man, identified as the accused, who did not live at the residence, inside the home and detained him without incident. No property was reported missing. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Lamar Hampton Fields, was arrested.
