Man Nearly Hit By Driver In Woodbridge Road Rage Encounter: Police

Prince William County Police say a driver nearly hit a person with his vehicle twice and accelerated toward an occupied vehicle.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man was nearly hit in a road rage incident early Sunday in Woodbridge, according to Prince William County Police.

Around 12:33 a.m. Sunday, police responded to Richmond Highway and Powells Creek Boulevard in Woodbridge for a road rage report. A police investigation found the victims, a 29-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, were stopped behind another vehicle that did not move when the intersection light turned green.

The man got out to check on the driver, but police say the driver reversed and nearly hit the man twice. In addition, the driver made a u-turn and accelerated toward the other vehicle, which was still occupied by the woman.

Police say there were no injuries, and no contact was made between the suspect and victims.

Officers later found the suspect vehicle near Dumfries Road and did a traffic stop. The suspect, Demarcus Antonio Byrdsong, 28, was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding. He was held on a $5,000 secured bond.
