
Rick Carey, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 11, 2024, due to complications from COVID-19. Born on June 29, 1954, in Celina, OH, Rick lived a life dedicated to his family, country, and community.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Carey and Barbara Fisher, as well as his sister, Vickie Phillips. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Dianne Carey; his brother, Tim Carey; and sisters, Tina Smith and Julie McDonald. Rick's legacy continues through his three children: Billie Marie Brown, Richard Dean Carey, and Barbie Nickohl Kaprat; seven grandchildren: Joshua Marshall, Christian Marshall, Destiny Brown, Alyssa Mathews, Hannah Whaling, Carlos Meda and Dante Meda; and eight great-grandchildren.
In 1973, Rick enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served his country with honor until 1979. He was deployed to Okinawa, Japan, and Vietnam, earning several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Marksman Badge.

Following his military service, Rick pursued a successful career as a Network Engineer, contributing to critical governmental contracts supporting the Pentagon. His professional dedication was matched by his love for sports and his commitment to the community. A passionate sports enthusiast, Rick dedicated much of his life to coaching wrestling and football, and he was a committed volunteer at the Godwin Middle School, where he made a lasting impact.
