Question of the Day: Most Popular Baby Names of 2011

See whether your favorite names will be emblazoned on America's latest generation.

The most popular baby names in the country may not carry the weighty implications that the nation's employment numbers or gross domestic product bear, but they just might answer a more fun question: Does your country have good taste?

The U.S. Department of Social Security on Monday, May 14, released last year's top names, with a few surprises for the casual observer tossed into the mix; Logan appears at No. 20 for boys, while Brooklyn nabbed spot No. 21 among girls.

The top names for boys and girls, respectively, were Jacob and Sophia.

As for last year's top names, the influences aren't easy to pinpoint. Did Jake Gyllenhaal's movie Source Code send parents scrambling to honor the male actor? Has Sofia Coppola's filmography finally caught on after 30-plus years? In all likelihood, probably not (especially considering the alternate spelling of "Sophia" technically nabbed spot No. 19 on the girls list).

So, which is your favorite baby name on this list?
