Hit-And-Run Crash Kills Pedestrian In Woodbridge: Police (patch.com) — Residents in Woodbridge are being urged to come forward with any information after a 68-year-old pedestrian with no fixed address was fatally struck in a hit-and-run on Cardinal Drive early Thursday morning. Police say the man was crossing outside a crosswalk in dark clothing when he was hit, and the driver fled without being identified. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the crash or has camera footage from the area to contact Prince William County Police.
   

2. Woodbridge Area Elementary Gets New Principal Ahead of 2026 Opening (potomaclocal.com) — A new elementary school serving the Woodbridge area will open for the 2026–27 school year, and Prince William County Public Schools has tapped veteran educator Brooke LeVecchi as its first principal starting January 5, 2026. With capacity for more than 600 students, the school is part of a broader push to handle rising enrollment in the Woodbridge region.
   

3. State deems all Prince William County high schools only 'conditionally accredited' (princewilliamtimes.com) — Families in Woodbridge should know that Woodbridge High and all 13 Prince William County high schools are now labeled “conditionally accredited” because the division doesn’t issue state-recommended certificates for non-graduates. The district, which still posts strong test-based performance at many schools, plans to appeal the decision, but there’s no clear timeline for when full accreditation might be restored.
   

4. MLB: The San Diego Padres have several ties to the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia (augustafreepress.com) — Baseball fans in Woodbridge may remember new Padres manager Craig Stammen from his days pitching for the Potomac Nationals here between 2006 and 2008.
