Proposed school redistricting plan would close Potomac View, reassign 2,600 students (princewilliamtimes.com) — Woodbridge families could see major school changes soon, as a proposed Prince William County redistricting plan would close Potomac View Elementary in Marumsco Acres and reassign about 2,600 students across 12 schools. The preferred scenario shifts most Potomac View students to a new Woodbridge-area school, aims to reduce overcrowding and trailers along the U.S. 1 corridor, and heads to a public hearing Jan. 21 before a Feb. 4 vote. 
2. You Hold the Key to Your Success Youth Expo Empowers Local Youth and Families (princewilliamliving.com) — A free youth empowerment expo is coming to Rippon Middle School in Woodbridge on Saturday, Feb. 28, giving local students and families direct access to mentors, colleges, nonprofits, and community resources. The all-day event focuses on education, leadership, wellness, and opportunities, and organizers are actively recruiting youth-serving organizations to host no-cost vendor tables and engage directly with area families.
3. Two regional hospitals mandate masks in high-risk areas amid flu spike (insidenova.com) — If you’re heading to the Sentara hospital in Woodbridge, expect strong masking recommendations as local facilities see a surge in flu and other respiratory illnesses. Nearby Inova and UVA Health sites are going further, requiring masks in emergency and urgent care areas.
