Prince William County Schools Make Schedule Changes For Feb. 6
With wintry weather expected, Prince William County Public Schools have made a decision about Thursday morning.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County Public Schools has made a decision concerning when students will be going to school on Thursday.
PWCS will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, Feb. 6. Schools and the School Age Child Care program will open two hours late, and a.m. bus transportation will run two hours later than usual. A simplified breakfast and the normal lunch will be served. Field trips are canceled, while athletic activities will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Morning preschool will follow a two-hour delay and will be dismissed one hour later. Afternoon preschool will arrive one hour later.
Employees will follow PWCS policies for their positions. Inclement weather employees and food and nutrition workers report on time. Employees on the teacher salary scale report on a two-hour delay, while school-based and central office administrators and 250-day classified employees report on a one-hour delay or the time specified by the superintendent. Bus drivers report one hour later than usual. Employees may request leave in the event of conditions making it unsafe to report to work.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of Prince William County from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, and northwest Prince William County's is in effect until 12 p.m. Forecasters anticipate a mix of light freezing rain, sleet, and snow starting Wednesday evening. That precipitation could transition into a steady freezing rain Wednesday night. As temperatures warm Thursday morning, the wintry mix could turn into rain.
