Protesters to Stop in Woodbridge During 'Occupy the Highway' March

Group is headed for Washington, D.C.

A group of "Occupy Richmond" protesters are making the long trek from Richmond, VA to Washington, D.C. Their goal is to walk 20 miles a day until they reach the nation's capital for the Super Committee's meeting on Nov. 23.

The march from Richmond is happening at the same time as other "Occupy" supporters make their way from New York City down to the district. 

Local TV station 8News in Richmond caught up with the four protesters who set out on foot Wednesday despite the rain.

Protesters told 8News that they hoped to pick up more supporters in Fredericksburg, VA, and as they headed closer to the city. 

The group is walking along Route 1 for a seven-day march, but will be stopping in . In an e-mail, one of the protesters said that they would be arriving in-person to Woodbridge Sunday night and would be leaving Monday morning to continue marching to Alexandria. Once in Alexandria on Nov. 22,

According to the 8News newscast, the protesters are planning to camp in tents or will look for lodging volunteered by people along the way. 

Although the group is not entirely sure of what their plans are once they arrive in Woodbridge, they have been posting updates on their blog and Twitter page along the way.
