PWC Police 'Street Smart' Campaign Nets Citations
The goal of the program was to educate the public on pedestrian and bicycle safety.

Prince William County Police issued 1,075 citations during a recent campaign to educate drivers and pedestrians about behaviors that can lead to crashes.
The "Street Smart" campaign went from Nov. 18 to Nov. 25. During that time, "officers concentrated on driving behaviors that contribute to pedestrian and bicycle crashes with motor vehicles such as speeding, running red lights, running stop signs, and not using headlights at night or at any time when visibility is reduced," police said in a press release.
During the campaign, officers issued 489 citations for general speeding violations. They also issued 91 for reckless driving violations and 75 for drivers' license violations.
