Record Snakehead Snared by Woodbridge Man
Fish was caught in a Potomac River tributary and could be a world record.

WTOP.com reported that a Woodbridge man caught a snakehead in at tributary of the Potomac River that weighed over 18 pounds, which could be a world record.
The fish—not native to the Washington, D.C. area—has been coined "Frankenfish" in the past because of their toothy appearance. Snakehead are an invasive species, it is illegal to own a live snakehead in Virginia without a permit.
WTOP.com said the world record size for a snakehead was 17 pounds, four ounces in Japan.

At first inception, the fish was thought to overtake species of small-mouth bass found in Virginia's waters. But, of their long-standing affect on the Virginia fisheries.
No one is required to report a snakehead, but the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries requests that they be reported and killed if possible. Call 804-367-2925.
