Sons of the American Revolution support “Scouting for Food Drive”
SAR supports community Food Drive
Every year, Scouts across the country collect food to help the needy. This year, Jack Mills, Quartermaster of the Colonel William Grayson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, who is a junior at Saint John Paul the Great high school, joined Scouting America Troop 501 to collect 1376 pounds of food to help the needy this holiday season in Prince William County.
“I do Scouting for Food to serve the American tradition of giving all people hope and faith in our Founding Principles established during the American Revolution,” said Mills while loading food into boxes which were delivered to ACTS, a local food shelter.
The Colonel William Grayson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution serves Prince William County and western Fairfax County. A community organization, the Colonel William Grayson Chapter supports activities related to Veterans, the Scouts, JROTC, First Responders and numerous other community - based programs. Membership in the Sons of the American Revolution is open to the lineal descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier, sailor or Patriot. This includes persons who not only fought in the military or militia, but who also may have provided supplies, medical aid, signed oaths of Faith and Fidelity and similar acts. Contact the chapter’s registrar Michael Blythe mblythe@comcast.net for help in applying for membership.
