Area residents reported high winds and heavy rains during the early evening Thursday; but the storm that prompted a widespread tornado warning wasn't the one to produce a tornado. The National Weather Service reports that a tornado was confirmed by video passing over Interstate 95 just north of the entrance to Quantico Marine Corps Base at 9:30 p.m.  Other tornadoes were reported touching down in Kent and Louisa counties further south from Prince William County.

Area residents reported high winds and heavy rains during the early evening Thursday; but the storm that prompted a widespread tornado warning wasn't the one to produce a tornado.

The National Weather Service reports that a tornado was confirmed by video passing over Interstate 95 just north of the entrance to Quantico Marine Corps Base at 9:30 p.m.  Other tornadoes were reported touching down in Kent and Louisa counties further south from Prince William County.
