
Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok announced Friday Morning that the man in yesterday's structure fire succumbed to his injuries Thursday evening and died at an area burn trauma hospital.
The man has been identified as William John Maybin, 75, of no fixed address. An investigation revealed that homeless persons were using the vacant shed for shelter. A joint investigation is currently underway by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Prince William County Police to determine the exact cause of this fire.
Police say currently there is no foul play suspected.

Prince William County has a 47-bed winter shelter open for the homeless every year from Nov. 1 to March 31, from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. For more information about the Winter Shelter call 703-897-0199. The Hilda M. Barg Homeless Prevention Center is also available for use; it has 30 beds for families and single adults offers comprehensive services including case management, job, mental health, medical referrals. The shelter is open year-round.
