Virginia Department of Transportation closed the bridge over Neabsco Creek on Blackburn Road at Wentwood Lane because of safety concerns. Reader Jill Jacobs said the road is closed between Rippon Boulevard and Reddy Drive.  VDOT closed the bridge at 4 p.m. after crews noticed severe vertical cracks on both abutments. The bridge will remain closed until VDOT repairs are complete, detour signs will be posted Tuesday alerting drivers to use Route 1. VDOT said the bridge carries about 6,000 vehicles a day.
