Weak Shaking from Earthquake Felt Around Region
The earthquake was centered in Mineral, VA but Northern Virginia residents reported feeling it as well.

A 3.1 magnitude earthquake hit Mineral, VA at 11:21 p.m. Sunday night but weak shaking was reportedly felt around the Northern Virginia region.
in August 2011 that was felt as far as New York City.
The Washington Post reported that Sunday night's quake was "comparable to several of the dozens of aftershocks that followed last August’s rare earthquake."

On the United States Geological Survey's "Did You Feel It?" website, residents from Woodbridge, Centreville, Falls Church, Fredericksburg and Reston – among other places in Northern Virginia – reported feeling some weak shaking. The response chart also shows around 20 responses from Maryland.
