What's Open, Closed For Presidents Day 2025 In Woodbridge

Presidents Day, which Virginia also recognizes as George Washington's Birthday, will result in schedule changes around Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — The Presidents Day holiday, which is also called George Washington's Birthday in the first president's home state of Virginia, will result in closures and schedule changes in Woodbridge.

The holiday falls on Monday, Feb. 17, resulting in a three-day weekend for many employees and students. Prince William County government offices will be closed, and some other services will be closed or adjusted for the holiday.

In Prince William County, the Prince William County Office of Historic Preservation will present an event called Take a Sip of History: Presidents in Northern Virginia on Feb. 19. The event will focus on presidential history in Northern Virginia.

In Fairfax County, George Washington's Mount Vernon is hosting the sold-out George Washington Birthnight Supper & Ball on Feb. 16 and a free admission day on Feb. 17.

Another event is Alexandria's George Washington Birthday Parade, which honors the first president in his adopted hometown. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Town Alexandria and is on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

Here are the holiday openings and closings to know around Woodbridge:

Prince William County government offices: Closed on Feb. 17.

Prince William County Public Schools: Schools and offices are closed on Feb. 17.

Courts: Prince William County General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court will be closed on Feb. 17.

DMV: All Virginia DMV customer service centers, the DMV Direct call centers, and DMV social media customer service will be closed. Over 50 services are available online at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov.

Libraries: Prince William County Library locations are open on Feb. 17, but passport services are closed.

Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Feb. 15, 7 a.m. to midnight on Feb. 16 and 5 a.m. to midnight on Feb. 17. On the Blue Line, trains run every 16 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt due to track work between Pentagon and Foggy Bottom. Shuttle buses replace trains between Pentagon and Foggy Bottom. Customers may transfer at L'Enfant Plaza to Orange or Silver lines to continue their trips to Downtown Largo or Foggy Bottom. On the Orange and Silver Lines, free shuttle buses replace trains between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon, and the Rosslyn and Courthouse stations are closed. Trains run every 12 minutes (daytime) and 15 minutes (evening) between Ashburn and Clarendon and every 15 minutes (all day) between Foggy Bottom and Downtown Largo. On the Red Line, trains single track at Silver Spring after 10 p.m. on Feb. 17. Normal service runs until 10 p.m. then trains run every 10 minutes. Normal service is planned on the Yellow and Green Lines.

OmniRide: There will be no OmniRide Express on Feb. 17. OmniRide Metro Express, OmniRide Local & East-West Express, OmniRide Access Paratransit and OmniRide Connect Microtransit will have regular service.

Post offices: Closed on Feb. 17.

Recreation centers: Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center and Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center are open on Feb. 17.

Trash and recycling: Private collection customers should contact their hauler to check for changes.

Virginia Railway Express: VRE will not run on Feb. 17.
