Driver Dead In Woodbridge 2-Vehicle Crash At Flashing Traffic Signal: Police

Police say the crash happened at a flashing traffic signal in the Woodbridge area.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A driver died in a two-vehicle crash at a flashing signal intersection in the Woodbridge area Tuesday. The other driver has been charged by Prince William County Police.

Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Minnieville Road and Summit School Road. An investigation found a 2021 Toyota Highlander heading north on Minnieville Road collided with a southbound 2020 Honda Accord. Police say the Honda was turning left on a flashing amber signal, while the Toyota driver entered the intersection on a red light. Police believe the 2021 Toyota Highlander driver was driving more than double the speed limit of the active work zone. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors for either driver.

The Honda driver was extricated from the car and was taken to the hospital. She later died of her injuries and was identified as Seema Rizvi, 45, of Woodbridge. The other driver went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
