The National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform re-designated as a "school to watch" for 2012 based on test scores any other criteria.
The "schools to watch" designation is bestowed on schools that "have achieved full accreditation status based on Standards of Learning assessment results, and serve students in grades seven and eight."
A visitation team also comes to the school. “The visitation team looks at the areas of academic excellence, developmental responsiveness to the needs and interests of adolescents, social equity, and organizational structures and processes,” said Sandy Dutemple, director of Virginia Schools to Watch in a prepared statement.
