Microsoft Volunteers Donate Time to Friends of Youth Bellevue Shelter

Friends of Youth acknowledges the energy and generous time commitment of two United Way Day of Caring corporate volunteer groups from Microsoft.

United Way Day of Caring provides an opportunity for local corporations to lend a hand to community charitable organizations in many different ways. Microsoft participated at two different sites: at the Youth Haven Bellevue Shelter for youth ages 11-18, Microsoft Senior Director of Programs, Planning and Business Partnership, Global Procurement Group and Friends of Youth board member, Cecelia Porto participated in this event with her team by giving the front of the house a new coat of paint, staining the front deck and painting interior panels. A second Microsoft group led by Lauren Horgan, gave their talents to New Ground Sand Point, a Transitional Living Program for formerly homeless moms, ages 18-21 and their babies in Seattle. This group painted the living room, created a beautiful garden area and planted flowers to make this house feel like a home.

Friends of Youth appreciates all of the Day of Caring volunteers by being friends in deed and giving their time and enthusiasm towards making the community a better place for the clients we serve.
