1. 12-Story Office Tower Proposed for Bellevue's Washington Square Superblock (downtownbellevue.com) — A 12-story office tower called Bevel is moving through design review with the City of Bellevue, bringing a large new office and retail project to the Washington Square superblock downtown. The 304,590-square-foot building would replace a surface lot and part of an existing structure, add about 246 parking stalls, and later be followed by a residential tower in Phase 2. 
2. U.S. attorneys trace WA investor money to Bellevue real estate scheme (fox13seattle.com) — Federal prosecutors say money from 22 Washington investors helped buy luxury items, including a five-bedroom home in downtown Bellevue, instead of funding the promised real estate projects. A jury has convicted Tamara King on multiple fraud and money laundering counts tied to the scheme, which allegedly funneled millions through a so‑called Halcyon investment fund. She now faces the possibility of decades in prison.
3. Ferguson's Washington state budget plan redirects climate money, taps rainy day fund (chronline.com) — Washington’s new governor Bob Ferguson has proposed a $79 billion supplemental budget that closes a multibillion-dollar shortfall through cuts, fund shifts, and redirected climate dollars instead of broad new taxes. Bellevue’s business community, via the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, joined other major business groups in warning that existing and proposed policies are raising costs and leaving the state budget on an unsustainable path.
4. National Guard shooting case moved to federal court as prosecutors weigh death penalty • Oregon Capital Chronicle (oregoncapitalchronicle.com) — Federal prosecutors have taken over the case of a man accused of shooting two National Guard members near the White House, killing one, as they consider whether to seek the death penalty. Investigators say the revolver used was originally bought in Bellevue in 2008 before later being stolen, and they’ve traced the suspect’s cross-country trip to Washington, D.C. before the attack.
