Goldberg's Offers Free Latkes for Hanukkah Through December

The restaurant at the Market Place at Factoria is offering the free potato latke with dinner in celebration of Hanukkah.

Happy Hanukkah! Hanukkah will be celebrated Dec. 20-28 this year, but , located at the (also known as the Factoria Mall), will be giving away a free potato latke with dinner entrees after 5 p.m. throughout the month.

The latke, or potato pancake, is traditionally known as a Hanukkah food because it is deep fried in oil, which has a significance in the Hanukkah tradition. Hanukkah celebrates the retaking of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem from the Greek Empire in the second century. According to tradition, after the battle, a one-day supply of oil kept the candles in the temple burning for eight days, and today Hanukkah is known as the Festival of Lights.

Goldber's is East Coast-style deli primarily known for its traditional Jewish items such as corned beef, pastrami, knishes, cabbage rolls, kreplach, knish, chopped liver, matzo ball soup and more. It also is known for its sandwiches and other meals.
