Greater Seattle Area Named 2nd 'Fastest Growing' In The Nation

SEATTLE, WA -- The greater Seattle region was named the second fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation. The annual list delivered by Forbes magazine considers different variables when compiling its list including population, wages and economic output.

Seattle moved up five spots from last year's list with a 1.97 population growth. The magazine expects the population to grow by another 1.76 percent this year.

Job growth saw a 2.62 percent increase while GMP growth was 4.65 percent. Workers saw a wage growth of 7.56 percent, the largest increase in the country, according to Forbes.

Home price growth was 13.61 percent, which was also the highest increase in the U.S. Forbes expects the home price to grow by 6.4 percent this year.

Tacoma-Lakewood was named the 10th fastest growing metropolitan area in the U.S.

Boise City, Idaho topped the list of the fastest growing cities in the country. Rounding out the top five list was Dallas, Orlando and Fort Worth.
