Everyone’s got an opinion about public transit, riders and drivers alike, right? Now you can share your point of view – and make it count – by taking an online survey that will become part of the city’s 2012 Transit Master Plan.
While the city does not itself provide transit, it has a major role in making recommendations to King County Metro and Sound Transit. It can also help determine how to create a transit system that meets the goals of being fast, reliable, safe and accessible for users in Bellevue.
The Master Plan will be used to come up with policies and projects aimed at making the transit system easier, more effective and more enjoyable. Among the issues that will be addressed:
- Identifying the city’s most important transit corridors, as well as potential new ridership markets that emerge as Bellevue grows;
- Integrating transit facilities and services with infrastructure such as sidewalks and bike lanes;
- Enhancing transit performance through roadway investments such as traffic signal upgrades; and
- Coordinating with Metro and Sound Transit to create a seamless, user friendly network.
To get your opinion, the city created the transit survey, which has already been completed by thousands of people. To make it even more enticing, local restaurants have pitched in. Those who complete the survey will have a chance to win a $75 gift certificate to Purple Café & Wine Bar, or a $100 gift certificate to Daniel’s Broiler, or a $100 gift certificate to El Gaucho.
The online survey is available until March 23 at: http://www.bellevuewa.gov/bellevue-transit-plan.htm. For more information contact Franz Loewenherz at 425-452-4077 or floewenherz@bellevuewa.gov
