Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Charges Connected to Kirkland Poisoning Death

Janjira Smith was extradited from the United Kingdom in June in connection with the 2006 death of her boyfriend.

Janjira Smith was arraigned Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty to a charge of Murder First Degree for the alleged poisoning death of her ex-boyfriend Roger Lewis in Kirkland in 2006, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Smith also pleaded not guilty to a charge of Assault First Degree for poisoning a woman who survived, the office reported. Smith was arrested in London in 2008 and was extradited to King County from England last month. The defendant is scheduled for a case setting hearing on September 7 at 1 p.m. at the King County Courthouse, courtroom 1201. She remains in jail on $5 million bail.
