• Chehalis City Council accepts grants for public defense, transportation improvements (chronline.com) — Chehalis is moving ahead with a new Interstate Avenue sidewalk after securing a state Transportation Improvement Board grant covering most of the project cost, with city funds filling the gap. The council also accepted a multi-year public defense grant to bolster legal services, including attorney pay, investigators, training, and interpreters. Construction is expected to start this summer and wrap up in the fall.
   

• Chehalis City Council OKs periodic comprehensive plan update (chronline.com) — Chehalis has officially updated its comprehensive plan, setting new long-term policies for growth, housing, transportation, parks, utilities, and climate resilience. The plan, developed over 18 months with public input and state review, also highlights key local stats like unemployment, income, and commuting patterns. • Centralia Middle School receives statewide 2025 AWSL ‘Culture Kick-Off Award' (chronline.com) — Chehalis readers may be glad to know Chehalis Middle School recently received the same statewide AWSL “Culture Kick-Off Award” now being celebrated at nearby Centralia Middle School. The honor recognizes intentional, inclusive efforts to welcome students and build a strong, student-centered culture from the first day of school through ongoing activities.
