2 Houses Catch Fire In Mountlake Terrace, 6 Left Homeless

Firefighters battled heavy flames at two houses early Thursday in Mountlake Terrace. Six people were left homeless.

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA — Two houses caught fire overnight Thursday in Mountlake Terrace, leaving six people homeless, officials said.

No one was hurt. The Red Cross was helping the six displaced residents.

A blaze broke out at a house around midnight on 241st Street Southwest, KCPQ-TV reported. Flames spread to a second house, and both homes sustained major damage, South County Fire said.

Video posted on Twitter showed firefighters pouring water over thick orange flames. Crews continued pouring water over hot spots around 5 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the blaze wasn't immediately known.
