Utility rate changes effective in Edmonds Jan. 1 (myedmondsnews.com) — Starting Jan. 1, Edmonds residents will see higher water, sewer and stormwater bills, plus a temporary 10% utility tax that runs through July 2027. The city says the three-year rate plan funds reliable service and infrastructure, and notes that assistance and low-income discount programs are available for those who qualify.

Cascade Symphony kicks off 2026 with Beethoven's Fifth at ECA Jan. 12 (myedmondsnews.com) — Beethoven’s iconic Fifth Symphony will ring out in Edmonds as Cascade Symphony opens its 2026 season at Edmonds Center for the Arts on Monday, Jan. 12. The evening also features cellist Sunnat Ibragimov, works by Wagner, Lalo and Janacek, plus a pre-concert talk and tiered ticket pricing for adults, seniors and kids.

Woman found dead after fire at Lynnwood apartment complex (mynorthwest.com) — A deadly late-night apartment fire in Lynnwood, within the South County Fire service area that includes Edmonds, left one woman dead and 12 people displaced. With more than 70 firefighters responding in icy conditions, officials are urging Edmonds-area residents to test smoke alarms, replace batteries yearly, and swap out alarms that are over 10 years old.
