Snohomish County Sheriff's Office: Explosives Found At Arlington Residence Following SWAT Team Response

ARLINGTON, Wash. – On Thursday, November 4, deputies responded to a residence in the 19300 block of Burn Road for reports of a shooting. The suspect, a 42-year-old Arlington man, was inside his residence and refused commands to exit. The victim, a 40-year-old man, self-transported to Cascade Valley Hospital with a gunshot injury to his hand.

During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect and victim were engaging in a verbal altercation outside the suspect’s residence when the suspect made verbal threats to kill the victim and fired one round through the victim’s car windshield.
Around 5:50 a.m. Thursday, the Region 1 SWAT team responded to the suspect’s residence to assist patrol deputies and negotiate with the suspect to surrender. Around 9 a.m., the suspect surrendered to the Region 1 SWAT team and was taken into custody without incident. The 42-year-old Arlington man was transported to the Snohomish County Jail and booked for first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and felony harassment - threats to kill.

On Friday, members of the Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad, Snohomish County Roads, FBI, ATF, Department of Ecology, and the 10th Civil Support Team responded to assist with the investigation.
Inside the residence, bomb technicians located a homemade explosive laboratory, an underground bunker, several firearms, improvised explosive devices, as well as multiple hazardous materials, and homemade explosives.
