Body Found In Propane Fire Identified As John Kemp of Gig Harbor

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office have identified the body found in this week's fatal propane house fire as John Kemp, 75, of Gig Harbor.

The fire that occurred right before midnight Monday in the 8800 block of 75th Avenue was caused by a mechanical failure of a propane system. The remains, of one person, were recovered.

A caretaker that lived in a separate dwelling on the property confirmed an elderly male lived in the house and was seen in the house just prior to the fire. Crews couldn't enter the residence immediately because it was structurally unsound.
