Commission Positions Still Open In Gig Harbor
Volunteers are needed to serve on at least two commissions in Gig Harbor: the Civil Service Commission and the Planning Commission.
GIG HARBOR, WA - The city is still looking for residents to join two volunteer commissions that help advise the Gig Harbor City Council and police department.
Residents interested in joining the Gig Harbor Planning Commission for a four-year term have until April 30 to apply. Anyone interested the Gig Harbor Civil Service Commission for a six-year term must apply by March 31.
The Gig Harbor Civil Service Commission "provides direction for the establishment of eligibility lists for the various classes of positions in the Police Department, certifies these lists for hiring purposes, hears complaints respecting any examination and such other matters, and keeps appropriate records," according to Assistant City Clerk Josh Stecker.

Prospective applicants are expected to be available to meet at least once per year, or more often if needed, for at least six years.
The Gig Harbor Planning Commission "provides guidance and recommendations to the City Council on comprehensive land-use planning matters," Stecker said.

To serve on either commission, volunteers must live in the city or within the urban growth boundary.
