Does Seattle Have the Best Summer Weather in the US?
Our region has topped a Bert Sperling "Best Places" list for the most comfortable summer weather. Do you agree?

Written by Patch Editor Caitlin Moran.
AΒ new rating from Bert Sperling's "BestΒ Places"Β series placesΒ the Puget Sound regionΒ at the top of the list for cool and comfortable summer weather. But does that make it the best?
The "chill cities"Β list ranks the top 50 U.S. metro areas based on factors such as daytime high temperatures, nighttime lows, relative humidity and dew point. Following behind Seattle are Portland, Ore., San Francisco, Denver andΒ San Jose, Calif. At the bottom of the list? Texas' four biggestΒ metro areas, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Of course, not everyone equates "cool" and "comfortable" with "best summer weather." Despite the abundance of sunshineΒ so far this summer, a cloudy spell in July or even August isΒ definitely not unheard of around here.
But,Β in a recent blog post, University of WashingtonΒ weather guru Cliff Mass outlinesΒ his own argument that Seattle has the best summer weather in the country. Along with factors like mild temperatures and low humidity, Mass cites the lack of severe summer storms, long daylight hours and relative few mosquitos.
