The Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed the cause of the fatal Gig Harbor house fire that occurred right before midnight, Monday, July 29, 2013 was caused by a mechanical failure of a propane system.
The remains, of one person, have been recovered and the identification of the individual is pending. The Pierce County Medical Examiners Office will release the name once identification is made.
The property loss is estimated at $900,000. A crew is working to secure the area and insure it is safe for further investigation.
