Morning, Gig Harbor!

Let's get you started this Thursday with everything you need to know going on in town today. The biggest story in Gig Harbor today is a decision by the city to change Gig Harbor's code and allow the construction of homeless shelters. The change comes as a result of a new state law, which requires cities across Washington to set up emergency shelters for people experiencing homelessness. The change will also help the county government in its effort to end on-street homelessness by November.

I've put a great explanation on the issue from The News Tribune in this morning's digest, plus a post from the City of Gig Harbor itself explaining the changing ordinances.
