Happy Thursday, Gig Harbor!

I've got a few fun stories for you today as we draw closer to the weekend. First, the City of Gig Harbor is putting out a call for artists to help carve a pair of decaying "tree snags" near Grandview Forest Park into a new piece of public art.

In business news, the City of Gig Harbor has received an application to turn the former site of the Opus Bank into a Chipotle Mexican Grill. The city has shared a notice of application on that project.

Finally, if you're getting out on the water anytime soon, environmentalists ask you keep your eyes peeled for a lost beluga whale that's been wandering the sound. It hasn't been spotted near Gig Harbor yet, but it has been seen nearby in Commencement Bay and along Point Defiance. If you do run into the whale, keep your distance and report it immediately: researchers say its likely lost and scared and in need of support.
