Gig Harbor Police Department to Carry Special Olympics Torch

On Thursday, May 30, members of the Gig Harbor Police Department will carry the Special Olympics Torch (known as the “Flame of Hope”) through our city and across The Narrows Bridge. This event is designed to raise awareness for the Special Olympics program.

The torch is carried by members of the local and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Local law enforcement agencies include the Gig Harbor Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Department and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

Look for the torch as it is picked up by GHPD members in the area of Borgen Boulevard and Burnham Drive around 4 p.m. on Thursday. It will be carried down Burnham – along Harborview Drive and Soundview Drive – and across the bridge.
