Gig Harbor Seeks Volunteer For Lodging Tax Advisory Committee

The city is looking for someone who has worked in hospitality and who is familiar with the lodging tax to help decide how it's used.

GIG HARBOR, WA — It's been a busy few weeks for housing and rental issues in Gig Harbor.

Hot on the heels of the city's two recent emergency ordinances on Airbnb rentals and homeless shelters, Gig Harbor has announced it's also seeking a volunteer to help decide how the local lodging tax is spent.

Multiple spots are open on the Gig Harbor Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. The committee meets once a month, and helps City Council decide how to spend lodging taxes to prioritize tourism in the city.

Currently, 10 people sit on the committee, including Mayor Kit Kuhn. The only qualification a Gig Harbor resident needs to serve on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee is a familiarity with how the lodging tax works, so applicants who have worked in businesses required to collect the lodging tax are preferred.

If you're interested in volunteering, you can apply online, or learn more about the committee and how it operates by visiting the City of Gig Harbor's website.
