Gig Harbor Woman Hurt In Car Crash South Of Port Orchard

Christine Danielson, 70, reportedly lost control of her Hyundai Elantra and struck several trees along SR-16 late Thursday night.

PORT ORCHARD, WA - A 70-year-old Gig Harbor woman was injured in a Thursday night car crash that ultimately totaled her vehicle about 6 miles south of Port Orchard in Kitsap County, according to Washington State Patrol.

Christine Danielson was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital following the crash that occurred just after 10:30 p.m. Jan. 3.

WSP officials said Danielson was heading east on SR-16 when she lost control of her 2005 Hyundai Elantra around milepost 19. Danielson reportedly spun off the right side of the highway, went down an embankment, and struck several trees before coming to a stop.

Impairment is not considered a factor in the crash, though WSP officials said Danielson may have been going too fast for the rainy conditions in which she was driving. Police will continue to investigate, officials said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
