GIG HARBOR, WA β€” A shed fire at the Gig Harbor High School track is being investigated as an act of arson, with one juvenile suspect already booked at Remann Hall on felony arson charges, according to Gig Harbor police.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. May 21 at 5101 Rosedale St. N.W. Investigators so-far have determined the fire reportedly began outside a storage shed containing athletic equipment, ultimately causing "extensive damage" to the shed and "the total destruction of a portable toilet" nearby, officials said in a statement Wednesday.

Gig Harbor police reportedly identified a juvenile suspect from Henderson Bay High School with help from both witnesses and the school administration. After the juvenile was contacted and interviewed, he was reportedly arrested for second-degree arson β€” a Class B felony, punishable with up to 10 years imprisonment and/or a $20,000 fine.

According to police officials, the school said the fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the shed and all the equipment it contained.
