Maritime Art Exhibit Opens July 20
The juried exhibit at Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor will feature more than 80 works of art selected by award-winning Seattle artist Kathy Collins.

The Harbor History Museumβs newest exhibit showcases the talents of maritime artists throughout the Pacific Northwest. This is the third year that the Harbor History Museum has hosted the exhibit, which has been well received by museum visitors and other artists.Β
The exhibit opens Saturday, July 20, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.
The juried exhibit will feature more than 80 works of art selected by award-winning Seattle artist Kathy Collins. Maritime art covers a wide variety of themes, but primarily includes the subjects of the sea itself, the coast, seaside, ships, sailing craft, beaches, wildlife, people, or anything related to the sea.Β

The exhibit will feature works created in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pen & ink, charcoal, photography, fiber, jewelry, pottery and sculpture.
The museum has developed several public programs inviting people to share in the maritime theme, including the following activities and workshops:

- July 19: Rapid-Process Watercolor Painting workshop taught by Seattle artist Kathy Collins; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. $90 for Harbor History Museum members, $95 for non-members. Register at Vicki@harborhistorymuseum.org or call 253-858-6722 ext. 5.
- Aug. 3: βRug Boat Buildingβ for Kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while supplies last. (FREE)
- Aug. 17: Plein Air Paint Out open to all artists from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. (FREE)
