Memorial Day: What's Closed, What's Open in Gig Harbor
While most governments and services will be closed, find out which businesses and services will be available throughout Gig Harbor.
Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day, and the three-day weekend means some places in Gig Harbor will be closed.
In honor of the holiday, Gig Harbor will be hosting several events around the community.
Here is a list of things you need to know:
CLOSED
- Government offices, including all federal, state, Pierce County and City of Gig Harbor
- Schools, including Peninsula School District and Tacoma Community College
- U.S. Post Office, UPS and FedEx
- Pierce County Library System, including the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula branches.
- Costco
- Most banks
OPEN
- Recycling and Garbage Service: Normal pick-up schedule
- Pierce Transit: Local bus and shuttle services will operate on Sunday schedule (Offices closed; no phone service.)
- Tom Taylor Family YMCA: Building, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (No registration classes. The Women's Health and Well-being Center at Point Fosdick will also be closed.)
- Most stores and restaurants will be open as usual
