• More weekend hours, controversial staff changes coming to Pierce Co. libraries (thenewstribune.com) — Gig Harbor’s Pierce County Library branch will shift to longer, standardized hours starting Jan. 18, opening 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday–Sunday. The system is also rolling out a regional staffing model, meaning Gig Harbor staff may rotate with nearby branches as the library works to cut costs and close a budget gap.
   

• Pierce County Library System announces updated hours with more weekend availability (kiro7.com) — Gig Harbor’s Pierce County Library branch will adopt new, longer hours starting January 18, 2026, opening 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday–Sunday. The countywide schedule changes are designed to give busy families more weekend access and support expanded outreach programs beyond library walls.
