GIG HARBOR, WA - Looking for a great opportunity to help beautify the city's community parks? Sign up now for Gig Harbor's 18th annual Parks Appreciation Day, set for the last Saturday of the month.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. April 27, thousands of resident volunteers will join city staff and representatives from both PenMet Parks and Key Pen Parks to spend a day in service to the community.

Landscaping, trail work, planting, weeding, cleaning, and playground maintenance are only a handful of the projects happening on Parks Appreciation Day, according to city officials. Altogether, volunteers will have 16 projects from which to choose.

Teams and individuals are welcomed to volunteer for the event, though larger groups are encouraged to contact the event coordinator so efforts can be equitably distributed. Smaller groups or individuals are not required to pre-register; simply show up at the project site where you'd like to help Saturday morning.

A hot dog lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
