Want To Make A Difference In Gig Harbor? Join A Committee
Positions on two commissions and one committee need to be filled by civically engaged, interested residents. Apply before Feb. 28.

GIG HARBOR, WA - The city is seeking volunteers to fill roles on two commissions and one committee that all advise the city council on variety of topics. All interested residents should apply before Feb. 28.
The Gig Harbor Parks and Arts commissions as well as the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee each need multiple positions filled.
Residents interested in serving on the Parks Commission will be asked to advise the mayor and council on "park and recreation facilities, open space acquisition and development, maintenance and operation of parks and recreation public facilities, operation of parks and recreation programs and other matters as directed," according to Assistant City Clerk Joshua Stecker.

Residents who would like to serve on the Arts Commission will be asked to advise the mayor and council on all things related to public art throughout the city, Stecker said. Voluntary commission members will be required to meet on the second Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m.
And finally, residents interested in serving on the city's Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will be asked to advise the mayor and council "on matters of lodging tax collection and expenditures," Stecker said.

"The committee holds regular meetings quarterly, with occasional special meetings," he continued. "Appointees to the committee need to be representatives of businesses required to collect lodging taxes or representatives of organizations that benefit from lodging tax funds."
