Army Infantryman Killed During Training Exercise At JBLM
Spc. Drew Watters, 23, of Evansville, Indiana, was killed during a training exercise on Sunday, according to the U.S. Army.

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, WA — A 23-year-old Army infantryman was killed during a training exercise this past weekend near Joint Base Lewis-McChord. However, U.S. Army officials have not shared any details regarding how the soldier was killed.
Spc. Drew Watters, of Evansville, Indiana, had reportedly served as an Army infantryman since his enlistment in 2015. Since then, Watters spent time with the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, and the 2nd Infantry Division's 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team. During that time he earned medals for Army Good Conduct and Army Achievement, as well as ribbons for both National Defense and Army service.
"The 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Spc. Drew Watters," Col. Jay Miseli, commander of 2-2 SBCT, said in a statement shared with Patch. "We ask that you keep his family, friends, and Lancer Brigade Soldiers affected by his loss in your thoughts and prayers. Spc. Watters was a leader, husband, and father who will be sorely missed by all."
