This city hopes to attract more (thenewstribune.com) — Lakewood has just approved a zoning ordinance to allow child care centers in nearly every part of the city, aiming to ease severe “child care deserts” in neighborhoods like Tillicum, Woodbrook, Springbrook, and Lakeview. Prompted by a new state law, officials hope removing zoning barriers will attract more providers and support families, including many connected to nearby Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
