Closures Scheduled For State Route 512 Ramps in Lakewood This Week

Expect to see some nighttime ramp closures if you're driving anywhere near State Route 512 and Interstate 5 this week.

Crews will move from one ramp to the next, often closing and reopening more than one ramp a night as paving activities get completed.  Detours will be provided during each ramp closure, however motorists are advised to plan extra travel time and to drive through the area carefully. 

The below ramps will be closed at various times within a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. timeframe between today and Thursday:

• Steele Street on-ramp to westbound SR 512. Steele Street itself will be reduced to one-way, alternating traffic.
• Eastbound SR 512 exit to Steele Street.
• South Tacoma Way on-ramp to southbound I-5.
• South Tacoma Way on-ramp to eastbound SR 512.
• Westbound SR 512 exit to southbound I-5.

Crews will also pave in other areas within the project limits, such as the I-5 collector/distributor at SR 512. Depending on the location of the work, paving activities may begin as early as 7 p.m. and continue until 5 a.m. the following morning.
