Comcast Announces New Xfinity Military Discount Program
Company commits to invest more than $1 million in nonprofits that serve the military community in 2024

In a significant enhancement of its support for veterans and military families, Comcast has announced several new initiatives coinciding with National Military Appreciation Month. Among these are the introduction of a new Xfinity Military discount program, a robust $1 million commitment to military-serving nonprofits, and the launch of a poignant new ad campaign titled “The Aviators,” directed by Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow.
The Aviators Campaign: A Tribute to Service
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, known for her work on films such as The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, the campaign portrays the heartfelt reunion of a grandfather, a former Navy pilot, with his old squadron, through the eyes of his granddaughter. This reunion, sparked by the granddaughter's surprise, symbolizes the power of connectivity facilitated by Comcast’s advanced network. The production uniquely features real Vietnam veterans and collaborates with Bigelow's regular team, including Oscar-winning cinematographer Greig Fraser and sound designer Paul N.J. Ottoson.

Focused Investment in Military Nonprofits
Comcast’s pledge of over $1 million to nonprofits in 2024 will support organizations such as NPower, Our Community Salutes, Wounded Warrior Project, Hesperus, and the United Service Organizations (USO). These grants will enhance digital equity through tech training, entrepreneurship programs, and the provision of essential tech resources like laptops and WiFi connectivity, all tailored to meet the unique needs of the military community.
Bertina Ceccarelli, CEO of NPower, highlighted the importance of this partnership: “With Comcast’s support, we are addressing essential training and transition needs for service members moving to civilian roles, ensuring they and their potential employers experience a seamless and beneficial transition.”
These initiatives build on Comcast NBCUniversal’s history as a top employer for veterans and military spouses, with the company hiring over 21,000 individuals from these communities since 2015 and being recognized by Military Times as the top telecommunications company for veterans in 2022.
