Harrison Prep's Adam McCombs Takes First Place In Washington State Science and Engineering Fair

Adam McCombs, an eighth-grade student at Harrison Prep, earned top honors at the 56th Washington State Science and Engineering Fair over the weekend in Bremerton.

McCombs, one of 500 presenters at the fair, took first place for eighth-grade students for his project, "A Study of River Erosion and How to Prevent It."

McCombs was also nominated to compete in the Broadcom Masters Program. He'll get an opportunity to receive an expenses-paid trip to Washington DC to compete for a $25,000 grand prize. 

He also received a Certificate of Excellence from the Washington Society of Professional Soil Scientist. This award of $50 is presented for the best project related to soil science. WSPSS encourages students to present a project that elucidates soil function and importance in the overall picture of earth sciences.

McCombs also received the Pacific Science Center Award.
